Our Pastor

pastorwho The Reverend Marilyn Parker-Jeffries was born and raised in Lorain, Ohio. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Corrections from Kent State University in 1977. In 2010, she retired after 30 years of service from Lorain County Domestic Relations Court where she moved up the ranks serving as a Probation Officer, Casework Supervisor, Group Home Director, Program Manager and ultimately retiring as The Director of Support Services.

After much struggle she accepted the call to preach in 1997 and was subsequently licensed to preach the gospel in 1998 and received her ordination in 2002. In June 2008, she received the Masters of Arts in Practical Theology from Ashland Theological Seminary.

In 2007, she heard God call her into the planting field. New Creation Baptist Church is the result of that call and was organized on September 11, 2007 with herself, her husband, and 3 committed supporters. Under her leadership the church has consistently grown and has the following ministries in operation; Bible Study, Intercessory Prayer Ministry, Youth Ministry, Children's Choir, Men's Ministry and Women's Ministry and has developed a partnership with Wings Prison Ministry of New Mexico which provides family oriented, faith based ministry in our local institutions along with a Partnership with Angel Tree Prison Fellowship. Under her leadership the church's application for 5013 status for its vision for outreach ministries was approved and (G.E.M.S.) Great Expectation Ministries will begin initiating its plan for programming for youth and re-entry. In August of 2012, under her leadership the church was successful in purchasing a worship edifice which was dedicated on Sunday, November 11, 2012.

Over the years, Pastor Marilyn served as one of the founding members of Building a Solid Foundation, an afterschool program and received "The Making a Difference in the Life of a Child" award from Lorain County Children's Services. She has also served on the Board for Direct Action Committee for Lorain Development, the Marketing Committee of the Nord Center Mental Health Agency, as co-chairman of Reclaim Lorain County, the Speakers Bureau for the Lorain Pride Program, honored as a Spiritual Leader of the Year in 2012 by the local branch of the National Council Of Negro Women and is now the first female Chaplain for the Lorain Police Department. She is a pastor that is both "Kingdom Focused" and "Community Minded."

She is married to Abraham Jeffries Jr. and has 2 "like my own" daughters, Helen and Roberta and one grand-daughter, Abigail.
